As mercury levels start to rise, consumer durable companies are getting ready to launch air-conditioning products. Consumer durables major LG Electronics has set itself a target of achieving Rs 2,500 crore in air conditioner sales this year and 25% market share. For this, the company has launched a new range of air-conditioners that offer a combination of innovative technology and protection from mosquitoes.

Saurabh Baisakhia, business head - air conditioners, LG India, said, "For 2015, we are targeting 25% market share with a turnover of Rs 2,500 crore. This will be achieved through launch of new products and continued focus on expanding our pre and after-sales network."

The company has introduced an innovative product, which is an inverter air conditioner that can also keep mosquitoes away. It also has Himalaya cool and monsoon comfort technologies, which have been developed especially for Indian weather conditions based on LG's Indian insights programme, the company said.

According to Baisakhia, the new range combines two of the company's best technologies (Inverter V and Mosquito Away) in one product thus transforming air conditioner usage in India.

"We have created a product that makes cooling faster, the air cleaner and equipped to suit all weather conditions, keeping away mosquitoes. The Inverter V technology and exceptional energy efficiency features make it the best value for money product for Indian customers keeping in mind high electricity bills with increased power usages."

The ACs ensure 1.7 times faster cooling while the Inverter V Mosquito Away Air Conditioner has the variable tonnage technology which reduces energy consumption up to 66% along with protection from mosquito-borne diseases. Available in 1, 1.5 and 2 tonne models, the price range of ACs is Rs 45,990 to Rs 66,990.
