When it come to large-screen devices, budget handset makers are not the only ones cashing in on.
With the love for phablets growing among different age groups, Korean handsets maker LG has launched the successor to its LG Optimus G.
The 5.5 inch LG Optimus G Pro is in a direct competition with Samsung Note II.
The front consists of full HD (1920x1080) IPS display protected with a layer of Gorilla Glass, while the back of the phone consists of a shiny plastic cover.
However, it is the chequered glittery back cover that differentiates it from any of the Galaxy series devices.
Also, a thin metallic band between the front and the back of the device gives it a decent classy look.
There are three buttons on the front-- home and back buttons and another one to directly go to apps and widgets.
The 172-gram device does not give user a bulky feeling, rather its round edges make it easier to hold.
The device comes with a 13 megapixel rear camera with a LED light and 2.1 megapixel front camera.
The quality of the pictures taken from the back camera is impressive. The pictures seem to be vibrant and full of colour. The viewing angles are also great and the touchscreen experience is swift. The camera also offers a slew of options to customise pictures. The VR Panorama feature allows 360 degree viewing, from taking pictures of both horizontal and vertical environment.
The smartphone offers dual recording feature that captures video with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
The device runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the user interface is pretty decent. Though, being an elite device it could have offered the latest Android 4.2.
The internal storage space is 16GB and the memory can be expanded up to 32 GB through a microSD card. Equipped with loud speakers, the audio quality is pretty good.
The battery lasts almost a day-and-a-half with normal usage.
Though the device offers handful of features, it is not highly innovative in design.
