Jet Airways will start operating out of Chennai on Sunday. The company made the announcement in a series of tweets. The Chennai airport closed for commercial operations on December 3 after the runways were clogged with flood water. Chennai has been experiencing what are being called the worst rains in nearly 100 years.
For the last few days, partial operations, mostly emergency flights, were operating out of INS Rajali, the naval air base in Chennai.
Jet Airways has said that it will operate its first flight, from the into Chennai.
The tweet says that the estimated departure time of flight 9W2352 from Bangalore to Chennai will be 1710 hours. Flight 9W2757 will fly from Chennai to Bangalore at an estimated departure time of 1840 hours.

In a statement, also tweeted by the airline, Jet Airways has said that passengers will only be allowed to carry hand luggage on the flight operating out of Chennai.
It also said that passengers that already hold a confirmed ticket to and from Chennai till December 15, will be allowed to cancel and get a full refund or can change the ticket to a later date at no charge.
