Indian firms seek new partnerships in South East Asian markets

Its current export is about US $10 million a year worth of cables to 28 markets and aims to increase shipment of value-added products such as fiber optic cables and raise export to US $50 million a year by 2020.

Seeking new partnerships in the South East Asian markets, Indian companies made a strong presence at a broadcasting and communication exhibition held here.

Leading the group of Indian companies was Polycab Wires Limited, one of India's largest cable producer, which is set to increase its fiber optic cable exports through distributors to the regional market.

"We are looking to appoint distributors in the South East Asian region, a market of 50,000-60,000 km a year fiber optic cables," said Rakesh Sheoran, general manager for sales and marketing of telecom products at the Mumbai-based Polycab.

Its current export is about US $10 million a year worth of cables to 28 markets and aims to increase shipment of value-added products such as fiber optic cables and raise export to US $50 million a year by 2020.

"We are also working on an initial public offer for listing on NSE in Mumbai next year," said Ashish D Jain, the head of telecommunication business unit in Polycab.

Jain said proceeds from the IPO would be for Polycab expansion to increase the range of cable products as well as LED lights, switches, switch-gears and pumps.

Kolkata-based software company, Navsoft, is also tapping the South East Asian market for its range of products, led by e-commerce designed Boost MySale, the company's director Abhishake Rungta said on the sidelines of BroadcastAsia2015 and CommunicAsia2015 conference held from June 2 to 5 in Singapore.

"We are exploring opportunities in the South East Asian markets, starting with Singapore," he told PTI at the end of the exhibition yesterday.

Boost MySale is a multi-channel solution for e-commerce business and can be tailored to customer requirements.

Navsoft has over 100 clients in the United States, Norway and the UK.

Bangalore-based Advanced Millennium Technologies, which also participated in the exhibition and conference, has developed the Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) platform, named Unified Inbox, which will be pre-loaded into smart devices made by China's Huawei.
