Indian economy transforming from emerging to resurgent: President Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee has said the Indian economy is transforming from emerging to resurgent with a potential to achieve eight percent GDP growth rate in the current fiscal.

Mukherjee, who was addressing the Indian community in Stockholm, Sweden, last night, said the Indian economy was going to reach nine trillion US dollars soon despite the global economic crisis.

He urged the Indian community to contribute to their motherland to make it a developed country and make its presence felt in the world.

Referring to the 'Make in India', 'Digital India', 'Smart Cities' and 'Clean India' programmes, he said these initiatives have provided a great opportunity for foreign investments.

President Mukherjee, who is presently in Sweden on an official visit, would meet Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and other leaders today.

Several MoUs are expected to be signed between the two sides in the fields of small, micro and medium enterprises, urban development, health and energy sectors during the president's visit.

President Mukherjee would reach Belarus tomorrow on the final leg of his two-nation tour.
