India Inc calls on Nirmala Sitharaman ahead of strategic meet with US

The India-US Strategic and Commercial Dialogue will take place later in the day; a India-US CEO Forum will convene on the sidelines of the conference.

Top CEOs of Indian companies met Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday evening, ahead of the India – US Strategic and Commercial Dialogue(S&CD) scheduled for later in the day. 

On the sidelines of this conference, India-U.S. CEO Forum will be holding a meet. The forum is co-chaired by Tata Group's Cyrus Mistry from the Indian side and by Dave Cote, CEO Honeywell, from the US side. 

The CEO Forum was set up in December 2014, and it has held two meetings so far. In the first meeting, held in January last year the Forum submitted comprehensive recommendations, which were later reviewed in the meeting held in September last year. 

"In the meeting to be held on August 30, 2016, the Forum will discuss the status of progress made on these recommendations. The Forum is also working on a fresh set of recommendations which would be submitted before the two governments in the meeting on August 30,2016," the government said. 

To discuss this, CEOs like Tata Group's Cyrus Mistry, Mahindra & Mahindra's Anand Mahindra, ICICI Bank's Chanda Kochar, HDFC's Deepak Parekh, BHEL's Atul Sobti, Apollo Hospital's Preetha Reddy and Bharti Airtel's Sunil Bharti Mittal. The issues relating to recommendations submitted by the Forum were discussed by those present in the meeting.
