India and Afghanistan today held discussions on ways to facilitate transit of goods, business visas and trade in pharmaceutical products.

Both the sides also agreed for further cooperation in sectors such as renewable energy, power, standards, agriculture, transportation and public health.

These issues were discussed in the second meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade, Commerce and Investment between India and Afghanistan, at the level of commerce secretary.

"The two sides had extensive discussions on a variety of issues concerning bilateral trade and economic relations," the commerce ministry said in a statement.

The Indian delegation was led by Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia and the Afghan delegation was headed by Mohammad Qurban Haqjo, Deputy Minister for Commerce.

Both the countries also deliberated upon ways to increase trade of rough gemstones, increasing customs cooperation, besides opportunities for investments.
