In New York Comex trade, gold for June delivery rose

to settle at USD 1,289.10 an ounce as compared to last weekend's close of USD 1,288.50, while May silver contract dipped to close at USD 17.856 an ounce from USD 18.51.

On the domestic front, standard gold (99.5 purity) resumed higher at Rs 29,385 per 10 grams from last Friday's closing level of Rs 29,145, later surged to Rs 29,425 before closing at Rs 29,345, showing a rise of Rs 200 per 10 grams, or 0.68 per cent.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) also commenced higher at Rs 29,535 per 10 grams compared to preceding weekend level of Rs 29,295 and later climbed to Rs 29,575 before finishing at Rs 29,495, revealing a gain of Rs 200 per 10 grams, or 0.68 per cent.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) opened lower at Rs 43,060 per kilo gram from last Friday's closing level of Rs 43,095, later recovered to Rs 43,170, subsequently however, it plunged to settle at Rs 42,025, showing a loss of Rs 1,070 per kilo, or 2.48 per cent. (MORE)
