IISCO steel plant blast occurred at new plant, say trade union leaders

An explosion occurred at the new IISCO steel plant here today.

This was disclosed by the trade union leaders at the site of the blast in the IISCO steel plant.

Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) leader Harjeet Singh said, "This was a very unfortunate incident. We were starting a new plant when the accident occurred. The blast occurred under battery number 11, due to which around 18 workers were injured. The incident occurred around 11.30 am. All the injured have been taken to the hospital and doctors are diagnosing them and will give the final count of those grievously injured."
Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) leader Tarun Kumar added, "On the starting of the new plant, we had warned the management that human life is more precious than that of the factory. They took precautions and even called in experts from abroad. It is very unfortunate that this accident occurred."

An explosion occurred at a gas pipeline at the IISCO steel plant, leaving workers injured, with at least three critically wounded.
