Possibility of providing autonomy to Prasar Bharti, single window clearance and indigenisation of set top boxes will be the core issues that will find the place in the ten slides that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) plans to show to the Prime Minister soon.

The PM has asked all the ministries to prepare a 10-slide presentation regarding the issues in their respective sector, explaining the point of action for the next five years.

"We are evaluating the possibility of giving autonomy to Prasar Bharti. One way is to have it by having financial autonomy. We are evaluating how far can they expand their Internal Extra Budgetary Resources (IEBR)," a senior I&B Ministry official told dna on the basis of anonymity.

This budget of Prasar Bharti consists of internal revenues from programs, advertisements and different telecast rights.

"We are also looking at simplification of procedure. Such as ensuring single window clearance for everything -- community radio, television channel, film shooting etc. Indigenisation of set top boxes is also on the cards," he added.

While the former I&B Minister too was talking about talking about single window clearance for film shooting in India, the issue did not see the light of the day during the UPA tenure.

The government is also actively considering the proposal to provide complete freedom to Prasar Bharti, after the state-owned broadcaster Doordarshan during the election period last month had decided to edit the interview of the then Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP Narendra Modi for which it received lot of flak.

The Prime Minister met Government of India (GoI) secretaries on June 4 and outlined his agenda of governance and his expectations from them.
