Infosys chief executive officer Vishal Sikka said having a healthy mix of local and global client is a "very good" thing. He was interacting with the media at a post-quarterly results conference, answering a question about the stringent H-1B visa regime under US President Donald Trump.

He said, "(The) role of visas has become to strong. We have to deliver value to our clients in a way that is strategic to them. We have to be focussed on bringing the best local talent and the best global talent. The main focus should remain on delivering results to clients.

So "A healthy mix of local and global talent is a very good thing," he said.

Sikka added, "We have trained 200,000 local (US) students in computer science and several thousand teachers."

Trump's policies to protect American jobs and bring back jobs to America have been pointing to a rigid H-1B visa regime which may put the jobs of tens of thousands of Indian IT professionals in jeopardy. Indians avail of the largest chunk of H-1B visas that are issued each year.
