Cult-bike maker Harley-Davidson on Monday announced the increase in prices on select models sold in India by Rs 30,000 to offset the impact of foreign exchange rate fluctuation.

The price increase will be applicable on Street 750, Sportster family and Softail range of bikes in India, Harley-Davidson India said in a statement.

The new prices will come into effect from April 1.

At present, the Street 750 model price starts at Rs 4.52 lakh while prices of three models in the Sportster family -- Iron 883, 1200 Custom and Forty Eight, starts at Rs 7.37 lakh, Rs 8.9 lakh and Rs 9.12 lakh, respectively.

The Softail range also has three models in the line up, Fat Boy price starting at Rs 15.15 lakh, Breakout starting at Rs 16.4 lakh and Heritage Softail Classic starting at Rs 16.6 lakh.

Explaining the move behind the price hike, the company said, "The increase is due to the impact of the Rupee-Dollar exchange rate."

On Friday, rupee had closed at 67.05 against the dollar.

Although it was a two and half month high, the rupee has weakened in the recent past against the dollar.
