Traders said besides fall in demand from retailers, sufficient stocks following increased arrivals from producing belts mainly pulled down gram, urad and other pulses prices.
Meanwhile, the Centre is considering slapping import duty of not less than 25 per cent on chana (gram) to curb shipments and protect local farmers from possible price crash in the wake of record output.
India is all set to harvest a record 22 million tonnes of pulses including all-time high chana output of 9 million tonnes this year.
In the national capital, gram eased to Rs 5,600-5,800 against last close of Rs 5,800-6,300 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded lower by Rs 300 each to Rs 6,400-6,700 and Rs 6,800-6,900 per quintal respectively.
Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted lower at Rs 2,500 each instead of Rs 2,700 each per 35 kg bag.
Urad and its dal chilka local also dropped by Rs 500 each to Rs 6,600-7,500 and Rs 6,800-6,900 per quintal respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and enquired lower by a similar margin to Rs 6,900-7,400 and Rs 7,300-7,500 per quintal.
Arhar and its dal dara variety declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,800 and Rs 6,800-8,600 per quintal.
In line with overall trend, masoor small and bold too slipped to Rs 4,700-5,000 and Rs 4,750-5,100 from previous levels of Rs 4,900-5,050 and Rs 4,950-5,150 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality quoted lower by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,200-5,700 and Rs 5,300-5,800 per quintal.
