Flipkart eyes 1 lakh sellers on its platform by December

Flipkart currently has 1,000 sellers in the State and it wants to take this number to 2,500 by December.

India's largest e-commerce firm Flipkart on Friday said it is aiming to expand its network by enhancing the number of sellers to one lakh by December, from 30,000 currently. "Right now 30,000 sellers are connected to our network. We are trying to increase this to one lakh by December," Flipkart Senior Vice-President (Marketplace) Ankit Nagori told reporters in Indore.

He said Madhya Pradesh is an important market and is among the 10 top states where his company does maximum business. Flipkart currently has 1,000 sellers in the State and it wants to take this number to 2,500 by December, Nagori said.

He said Flipkart is trying to link the sellers of MP's famous sarees of Maheshwar and Bagh print clothes to its network. "We are holding talks with organisations and trade bodies of handloom industry to connect the sellers of these traditional wears of MP with our network," Nagori said.
