The extreme test for endurance and driving skill of car enthusiasts and rallyists is back.

The popular SJOBA-Nexen Sub-Himalayan Open Rally will be held on March 10-13 this year.

One of oldest and commanding motor sport events in the country, the rally enters 30th year in a row, as professional and amateur drivers, on adrenaline rush, vye for the ultimate prize.

The organisers say the driving skill of participants will be put to test in the picturesque mountain passes of Himachal Pradesh.

The rally will cover a distance of 220 km and pass through a perfect mix of hilly, valley, river beds and unmetalled roads.

The SJOBA-Nexen rally will see a total prize money of over Rs five lakh up for grabs in the fun-filled event, which will for the first time see introduction of air ambulance facility to ensure safety of drivers, besides marshals, doctors and emergency vehicles through the entire stretch.

A total of 31 different classes have been introduced in various categories and a special prize in broad categories for women.

The basic test of vehicles will start on March 10 from Sector 34 grounds in Chandigarh, and the rally will be flagged off from Kunipul near Kunihar, 90 km beyond Chandigarh.

The rally organisers have introduced some new unexplored routes, both for 'Extreme' and 'TSD' (Time, Speed and Distance) formats. The SJOBA is affiliated to the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and is a regular event on the official FMSCI calendar, the premier body for motor sports in India.
