Facebook was the most wanted brand in India in 2015. The social media giant was the most searched and mentioned online, with 24,505.93 GPM.

Facebook overtook Google (13,438.74 GPM) in terms of popularity and interest this year, according to a report called 'The Goonj India Index 2015' by Goonj Labs.

The two were the most searched on Google search, mentions on Twitter, mentions on popular Facebook pages, mentions in popular news websites and YouTube search. However, both are in a category in themselves owing to sheer volumes when it comes to internet consumption in India.

Mobile messenger app, Whatsapp, came in next in the most popular brand in India list with 1,209.49 GPM.

Dainik Bhaskar was the most the most popular Indian brand with 808.30 GPM, followed by Times of India 662.06 GPM.

The other most popular brands in 2015 include Dainik Jagran (541.50 GPM), Axis Bank (442.69 GPM), Amar Ujala (361.66 GPM), HDFC (361.66 GPM), Twitter (361.66 GPM), Airtel (296.44 GPM), ICICI (296.44 GPM), Indigo (296.44 GPM), SBI (296.44 GPM), Vodafone (296.44 GPM), BSNL (162.65 GPM), IPL (162.65 GPM), LIC (162.65 GPM), Mathrubhumi (162.65 GPM) and Micromax (162.65 GPM).

On the other hand, the most hated brand was Airtel with 137.03 GPM. The reason for this was Airtel 4G ad campaign with the jokes being made at the girl in the ad and with people complaining about the services.

It was followed by Facebook as it received flak for its Free Basics platform, erstwhile Internet.org. Vodafone, Flipkart and IRCTC followed next as the most hated brands in 2015.
