Essel Group Chairman Dr. Subhash Chandra announced a Rs. 5,000 crore amount for capacity building aimed at encouraging startups to create job opportunities. The initiative called the DSC Foundation was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday during the mega event in New Delhi.
Calling it a great initiative, the Prime Minister said this will create a network of job creators.
“With this new initiative many will benefit. It will create capacity building in society to take on their problems and tackle them. We four brothers are giving a share of our profits to the PM — pledging Rs. 5,000 crores and officially inaugurating this DSC foundation,” Dr. Chandra said. DSC Foundation was among the many important initiatives that was announced by Dr. Chandra and that the Essel Group will be taking up.
For instance, Sarathi — a media initiative was also announced by Dr Chandra. Explaining the initiative, Dr Chandra said, “This is an initiative through our media. Zee media will provide a platform to help people with their problems, connect then to the right person and take it to the logical conclusion.” Education, which also came under Sarathi, was another initiative that was put forward by Dr Chandra. “We have started a pilot project for people who have not been able to go to school under the Right to Education. Other areas in which we are working on are — health, women empowerment and social justice and alternative livelihood,” he said.
In other initatives, Dr Chandra also announced his dream project ASHA 2022— Affordable, Shelter and Houses for All by 2022 Another initiative was also announced to honour the wives of soldiers’ families.
