1) RBI leaves key policy rates unchanged ahead of Union Budget

The Reserve Bank of India has left key repo rate unchanged at 6.75%. This was the last monetary policy meet before the upcoming Annual Budget, which will be presented on February 29.

RBI had left key rates unchanged in the fifth monetary policy meet too.

The cash reserve ratio has also been left unchanged at 4%. Read more here.

2) Start-up India: RBI to help ease doing business in India, create conducive ecosystem

The Reserve Bank of India will take steps to simplify doing business for start-ups in India and also help create an ecosystem to boost growth of start-ups, Raghuram Rajan said in his sixth monetary policy statement on Tuesday.

"In keeping with the Government’s Start-up India initiative, the Reserve Bank will take steps to ease doing business and contribute to an ecosystem that is conducive for growth of start-ups,: Rajan said in his statement. Read more here.

3) Volkswagen unveils new compact sedan, the Ameo

​Volkswagen India has just unveiled its new compact sedan, the Ameo. The Ameo has been made especially for the Indian market and will be manufactured at the company's plant in Chakan, Pune.

The Ameo will get two engine options -- the 1.2-litre MPI motor seen in the Polo and the 1,5-litre diesel engine. According to VW, the diesel Ameo will get a direct shift gearbox, a first for the segment. Read more here

4) 'Competition has kept air fare down; should not discourage it': Aviation minister

Putting "floors and caps" on airfares will push the ticket prices higher as competition among airlines has kept the fares lower, Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said on Tuesday. The Civil Aviation Minister's remarks assume significance against the backdrop of concerns in certain quarters that at times airlines are charging exorbitant prices for tickets.

Last year, there were demands from various quarters, including Parliamentarians, to put in a mechanism to contain steep fluctuations in airfares. Read more here.

5) Royal Enfield unveils the much-awaited Himalayan

Royal Enfield unveiled the Himalayan in New Delhi on Tuesday, the company's first motorcycle built completely ground up since the brand was taken over by Eicher Motors.

Royal Enfield CEO Siddhart Lal said that, with the Himalayan, "the agenda was the build a motorcycle that could do on-road as well as off-road -- that does all kinds of different road conditions but it isn't extreme, so you can actually use it in variety of conditions". Read more here
