Addressing the media on the progress in making Digital Payments a mass movement in India, CEO Niti Aayog Amitabh Kant said that there are nearly 10 lakh citizens who have so far got reward money of over Rs. 153.5 crore for embracing digital payments.

?Among the 9.8 lakh winners, more than 9.2 lakh consumers, 56000

merchants and 120 consumers have won the prize money worth Rs. one lakh each,? said Amitabh Kant.

Embracing the number of participants, Amitabh Kant said that the NITI Ayog will come up with cash-back scheme to encourage digital payment in the near future.

Further to this he said that nearly 4000 merchants have also won price money of Rs.50,000 each.

?Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi have emerged as the top five states with maximum number of winners,? Kant added while applauding the participation zeal of people of these areas.

He added that the Bheem app had made a world record by having in total of 17 million downloads so far.

However, he mentioned that in December and January, the Bhim app witnessed a surge of over 4160 percent in its transactions made.
