Coca Cola, Nestle to invest in government projects: Devendra Fadnavis

During his reply to the debate on agrarian crisis in the assembly, Fadnavis said Coca Cola would manufacture its own brand as well as bring out and promote the existing NOGA orange brand in Vidarbha.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday that the government has roped in soft-drink multinational company Coca Cola to set up orange-processing plants at Morshi in district Amravati and at Buti-Bori industrial area in Nagpur, and Nestle to manufacture processed milk products in Bhandara and Gondiya.

During his reply to the debate on agrarian crisis in the assembly, Fadnavis said Coca Cola would manufacture its own brand as well as bring out and promote the existing NOGA orange brand in Vidarbha. He informed that it would be a public-private partnership (PPP) project with Coca Cola and Jain irrigation company. He added that the government will undertake Oranges Unnati Project on 100 acres of land. Fadnavis informed that the Buti-Bori plant of Coca Cola would also have a facility to manufacture juice which would have a mixture of oranges from Vidarbha and sweet lime from Marathwada.

Pointing out that there was considerable amount of milk production in Gondiya and Bhandara districts of Vidarbha, the chief minister said the government has roped in Nestle to set up a manufacturing facility for processed milk products. He said even though milk is perishable, there are some constituents of it with good export potential.

Reminding that he had announced last year that the government will create a value chain and textile park in Amravati, Fadnavis said Raymonds will invest Rs1,500 crore for the same and the foundation laying ceremony will be held on December 21. He added that the project will provide employment to 10,000 people. The CM said his government will also start a variety of projects that would take care of almost eight types of processes that a cotton crop has to undergo before reaching the market. These units will be located in the Beed-Jalgaon belt, said Fadnavis.
