Channel V is planning to go back to its original business model, music, a LiveMint report has said.
Currently, Channel V is a youth-centric entertainment channel, after the company decided to shift its identity and focus four years ago.
This brought about shows like Mastaangi, sadda Haq, Gumraj, and so on, all focusing on the youth.
Channel V was one of India's first English music channels. Launched in 1996, it was popular for long-standing shows like 'On Demand' by VJ Trey Farley, 'Luke's After Hours' hosted by Luke Kenny, Launchpad, and for popular VJs like Keith, Kenny, Yudi, Gaurav Kapur, Purab Kohli and many more.
Now, it is planing to go back to its roots. Which means, it will be shutting all its entertainment shows and will move back to being a music channel.
By June-end, the current entertainment shows will be either phased out or ended, and the channel will reinvent its identity and programming to focus on music, the report said.
Thanks for the love guys, but we’re not going anywhere. We’re reinventing ourselves as a youth music channel #ChannelVLives
