Saradha scam: P Chidambaram's wife named in CBI chargesheet

The chargesheet names Nalini neither as a witness nor accused, but as one who has knowledge of the controversial channel deal, according to media reports.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary chargesheet in the Saradha scam and has named Nalini Chidambaram, wife of former Union Minister P Chidambaram, along with the estranged wife of former Union Minister Matang Sinh, Manoranjana Sinh, along with Saradha group Chairman Sudipta Sen and businessman Santanu Ghosh.

It names Chidambaram neither as a witness nor accused, but as someone who is in the know of the controversial deal, according to media reports.

The CBI's Press Information Officer R K Gaur said the charge sheet has been filed at a special court in Kolkata.

The agency sources said Sinh, Sen and Ghosh, along with their companies GNN India and Global automobiles, have been charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust, besides provisions of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act (PCMC Act), 1978.

The sources said that name of a woman lawyer has also appeared in the charge sheet but not as an accused.

It is alleged that Sinh's company GNN India had received plenty of funds from Saradha group.
