Budget 2016: Rajasthan Cabinet approves bill to accelerate industrial investment

The board will work for preparing master plan, development plan and infrastructure works in special investment regions, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.

Rajasthan Cabinet on Tuesday approved a Bill to accelerate industrial investment in the state and it will be introduced in the Budget session later this month. 

The Rajasthan Special Investment Region Bill, 2016 would be introduced in the Assembly during the Budget session, starting February 29. After this, the government will constitute a 15-member board chaired by Industry Minister and also development authorities for different investment regions of five cities.

The board will work for preparing master plan, development plan and infrastructure works in special investment regions, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.

In the five cities of Khushkehda, Bhiwadi, Neemrana (in Alwar district), Jodhpur and Pali-Marwar of Rajasthan, which are among 24 cities which have been identified by the Centre to develop as the integrated industrial areas in the first phase of Delhi-Mumbai Freight Corridor, the state government will set up the development authorities to carry out developmental works, he said.

MPs and MLAs will also be the member of the authorities, the minister said, adding that the Budget session of the legislative assembly will begin on February 29. "The session is likely to continue till the first week of April. The detailed schedule will be decided in the business advisory committee of the assembly. In the Budget session, replacing bills for ordinances which have been issued will be introduced," he said.

The minister also informed that the Cabinet has decided to give customised packages for industries in cement sector. He also sought support of the Opposition for smooth functioning of the ensuing session of the assembly.

The Cabinet also reviewed the progress of the recently launched Mukhyamantri jal swavalamban yojana under which water conservation structures are being created. He said people have so far donated about Rs 9 crore for the campaign.
