The 2015 BMW 1-Series hatchback has been launched in India where it replaces its aging older iteration. The new face-lifted 118d is only available in one trim with a solitary diesel engine on offer.

The new version is slightly longer and taller than the outgoing model and includes several minor changes both on the inside and the outside.

The new 118d gets a refreshed front look with headlamps composed of DRL’s and a wider grille design. At the rear, the tail lamps too get the LED treatment and the car’s sporty look is enhanced by the presence of twin exhaust pipes.

The solitary trim level available for the baby Bimmer is the Sportline trim. As a result, both the front and rear bumpers have been reworked to look more sporty and aggressive and showcase a slightly lowered design profile.

The Sportline 118d packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which is capable of producing 150PS of power and 320Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox which drives the rear wheels. On the inside, the new edition of the 1-Series comes equipped with a new infotainment system comprised of a stand-alone 6.5-inch display, a swish piano black central console and classy chrome accents on the air vents, button and knobs. Dual-zone climate control will be an optional feature.

In addition to the 118d, BMW has also launched the X1 M Sport compact SUV in India. The X1 M Sport will feature a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 184PS of power and 380Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Presently the M Sport line in India also includes the 530d M Sport and X3 M Sport.

The 2015 BMW 118d is priced at Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane) whereas the X1 M Sport is priced at Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane).
