The Board of Control for Cricket and India (BCCI) has decided to sell all the brands of mineral water at its stadiums at a uniform rate, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan said on Friday.

BCCI's initiative comes after PepsiCo recently announced that it will sell its mineral water at uniform rates across the country.

Paswan said that prices of water will be the same inside and outside the BCCI stadiums.

Mineral water is priced significantly above the MRP at airports, cinema halls, restaurants, cafes, and hotels.

Earlier this year in March, Paswan had directed all the establishments to comply with the law and sell packaged mineral water at maximum retail price. The government had sought an explanation from companies accused of charging more for mineral water.

The Minister had earlier said that charging more than MRP would attract fines and imprisonment.
