Audi has taken the wraps off the 2014 A8. The new, improved model of the carmaker’s flagship offering is not only more powerful than before but also kinder to the environment.
The 2014 A8 has undergone significant revisions both inside out. The design, for instance is much sharper than before with Audi’s revolutionary MatrixBeam LED headlights being the most distinctive feature. The optional LED technology enables the headlight system to react extremely precisely to other vehicles while always brightly illuminating the road.
The 2014 A8 will be available with a choice of twelve colors, including five new ones. Buyers will also get to choose from a variety of alloy wheel design available in sizes up to 21 inches.
Expect for the hybrid version, all the upcoming A8 models get Quattro all-wheel drive as standard. Audi has managed to enhance performance with most engines. The 3-litre TDI diesel engine now produces 250PS of power while the bigger 4.2-litre TDI V8 makes 380PS of power, 35 more than before. The 4-litre TFSI petrol, on the other hand, gets 15 additional horses and takes just 4.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph. The latter also features Audi’s cylinder on demand (COD) system which can deactivate four of the eight cylinders when not needed.
The 2014 Audi A8 will be shown at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and will go on sale in eth UK in January next year.
