Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will embark on a 10-day US visit beginning June 16 during which he will meet Treasury Secretary, foreign institutional investors and industry leaders.

He will travel to New York, Washington and San Francisco during the visit ending on June 25, sources said.

During the New York visit, Jaitley will interact with the officials of the New York Stock Exchange, meet FIIs and address students of two American institutes.

In Washington, he is scheduled to meet US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, while in San Francisco he will hold a round-table discussion with the members of US-India Business Council, the sources said.

Having opened up several sectors to foreign investment, India has been projecting itself as a favourable destination for attracting foreign funds.

The government has relaxed FDI norms in various sectors, including insurance, railways and medical devices, to boost FDI in the country.

Foreign fund flows grew 27% to $30.93 billion last fiscal as against $24.29 billion in 2013-14.

India received $1.82 billion in FDI from the US in 2014-15.

Jaitley is expected to highlight various initiatives of the NDA government, which came to power last year, to attract foreign investments into the country.

Among various initiatives is the 'Make in India' programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government expects foreign investors to support the initiative and bring in billions of dollars in FDI into the country.

That apart, Jaitley has been assuring investors of a non- adversarial tax regime, saying that the government has no intention to tax people retrospectively and will make it easier to do business in the country.
