'Amaar Kolkata' metro to now have dedicated 'Ola Zones'

Taxi aggregator Ola on Tuesday announced its exclusive partnership with Kolkata Metro, India's first Metro Railway and one of the most popular modes of public transport in the city of joy.

The association will enable easy, convenient and affordable last mile connectivity for commuters through dedicated 'Ola Zones', at key metro stations. The metro stations that will have an 'Ola Zone' are Esplanade, Park Street, Rabindra Sadan, Kalighat, Rabindra Sarobar and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar. Going ahead Kolkata Metro and Ola will further strengthen their partnership by adding the remaining 18 stations.

Kolkata Metro which facilitates travel for thousands of commuters every day extensively connects some of the key locations in the city. Over the years, Kolkata Metro has become synonymous with the city's heritage and has become one of the preferred modes of public transport for millions of Kolkatans.

The partnership with Ola is a step towards successfully integrating tradition with technology to offer seamless mobility solutions for hundreds and thousands of Metro passengers. Customers can now book an Ola cab from their application on arrival at a metro station and proceed towards ?Ola Zone? where their designated cab and driver partners will be waiting.

Moreover, Ola Kiosks stationed at these metro stations will assist commuters with booking and other details making their travel that much more seamless and convenient.

"Apart from building solutions that cater to various used cases, determining the commuting needs of a particular location, Ola has also aimed at integrating with the existing transport infrastructure within a city to enable sustainable transport solution. In Kolkata too, we integrated with the iconic yellow taxis to allow customers to book taxis from the Ola app. Metro Railways forms an integral part of Kolkata's mobility ecosystem and we are extremely honored to partner with them and are confident that this association will help create and build last mile connectivity for lakhs of commuters that use the metro services daily," said Director Operations at Ola, Piyush Surana.

Ola had recently partnered with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited to equip key metro stations with dedicated Ola kiosks that will provide customers the access of wide range of mobility solutions including the most affordable Micro to the premium Ola Lux.

Last year, Ola signed a similar MoU with the Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore City Junction Railway Station for a designated ?Ola Zone?, resulting in a seamless experience for customers and driver partners alike in the respective cities.

It aims to replicate this model with other key public utility spaces across the country. Ola is also exploring associations with the Indian Railways for designated Zones that have the potential to offer convenient mobility experience to the millions of people who travel by trains.
