Air Costa launches South India operations

The Vijayawada based low-cost airline Air Costa on Sunday launched its Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam flight and there on connecting to Bangalore, Bhubhaneswar, Jaipur and Chennai. According to the schedule, Air Costa will be operating direct flight from Sunday starting with Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam, Visakhapatnam to Chennai (via Hyderabad), Visakhapatnam to Bangalore (direct) and Visakhapatnam to Jaipur (via Bangalore).

Air Costa's managing director LVS Rajasekhar says "Internal research threw up vast potential for air connectivity to Vizag to cater to ongoing infrastructure development in the region. To exploit it, Air costa will serve tier-II and tier-III cities and connect them with existing metros and routes like Vizag to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai".

Taking advantage of the international standards of Visakhapatnam airport with a landing strip for 24x7 operations, low-cost carriers IndiGo and Air Costa are introducing new flights connecting the port city to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Bhubaneswar from Sunday onwards. Last month Air Costa signed an order with Brazil-based Embraer for 50 Embraer Jets E2s for an estimated value of $ 2.94 billion comprising a mix of 25 E190-E2s and 25 E195-E2s.
