The BSE Sensex fell below 15,500 on Tuesday for the first time since September 4, extending losses to more than 2.5% on the day as energy giant Reliance Industries tumbled.
At 3:03 pm (0933 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was down 2.56% at 15,489.38 points, with 26 components in the red.
Reliance Industries was down 5.4% at 1,827 rupees. The 50-share NSE index was down 2.71% at 4,584.20.
