The Auto Expo 2016 opened to the media on Wednesday morning. The show, hosted by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Automotive Components Manufacturers Association (ACMA) is being held at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida which will also see the Auto Componexts Expo going underway at Pragati Maidan.
The 13th edition of the auto expo is likely to see the participation of about 100 companies with nearly 80 new vehicle launches. Last year, the auto expo saw 70 new vehicles being launched or unveiled at the expo.
However, this year, certain carmakers and bike makers have opted to stay away from the expo citing input cost, lack of adequate products to display or even the fact that they have already made several trips to the country in the recent past.
Some of the participants are, Maruti Suzuki India, Mahindra, Hyundai Motor India, Honda Cars India, Tata Motors and Audi, among others. New participants include Jeep, Polaris, and Italian motorcycle maker Benelli. These include Bajaj Auto, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson.
