An arty mix by Ishita Arun, Karma Tenrab

In a one of its kind collaboration, singer Ishita Arun and art enthusiasts Dolka Denzapa have joined hands to come up with some unique works in art and craft — in the ongoing show titled Art Like This. Ishita, in her first ever exhibition, has designed some quirky patterns for the show such as a milk can bar stool, blingy khatiya, bicycle chair, etc. And enhancing this peculiar furniture styles are the pop artworks — by Sikkim based artist Karma Tenrab — that adorn the walls.

“I like working on unusual raw materials and giving them a high,” says Ishita. “It was totally coincidental that Karma’s paintings (including Buddha in a suit sitting in meditation) matched so aptly with my work,” she adds. Ishita started working on this project some three months ago and wanted to make use of all the discarded pieces of crap to come up with some arty furniture. “I worked on it together with art store owner Aradhana Nagpal…the synergy was amazing. I guess that what happens when you meet and work with like-minded people.”
