Karnataka chief minister is allotted third bungalow since he assumed office in May 2008.
BANGALORE: Chief minister Dr BS Yeddyurappa is getting a third bungalow from the government.
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has prepared No 389 on 11th Cross in Dollars Colony, RMV II Stage, for his use. Apart from furnishing the interiors, the authority has built a couple of halls on the first floor a few days ago. The house is ready for occupation now.
This is the third official bungalow BSY will be using. All his predecessors had only Anugraha, chief minister’s official bungalow near the Windsor. When he took over as the chief minister, BSY did not occupy Anugraha apparently following an astrologers’ advice. While Anugraha is vacant, he continues to live in the bungalow on Race Course Road, given to him when he was deputy CM during HD Kumaraswamy’s rule.
That makes the Dollars Colony house the third one for the CM. Apart from these three, Krishna (next to Anugraha) continues to be the CM’s home office. However, sources in BDA said the CM may use the new premise to entertain his personal ‘guests’. “Chief secretary Sudhakar Rao was using the bungalow before. After he shifted to another residence near Bala Bruie guest house, BDA was asked to refurbish the house for the CM’s use. The work has cost about Rs16 lakh,” BDA sources said.
They confirmed that BSY visited the house along with his cabinet colleague Shobha Karandlaje last week and was satisfied with the interiors. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president RV Deshpande refused to comment.
“It is a small matter. We should be focusing on larger issues of the State,” he said. Even Daivagna Somayaji, who is said to be one of the astrologers the CM relies on, preferred not to comment. Some say the CM’s prospects are not affected by a change of residence.
Bhushan Rao, another astrologer who has advised BSY in the past, said: “It was not necessary for the CM to avoid Anugraha in the first place. However, his horoscope shows bad time for him starting January 23 till end of February.”
Another astrologer SK Jain said: “The CM has not taken Anugraha as he had a good spell of luck since he occupied the bungalow on Race Course Road as deputy CM in the last government.”
