As Election Commission takes various measures for Indian voters for them to vote for their favourite candidate in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, social media firms are also doing their bit to help their users,
Snapchat has announced a number of important features for its Indian users to promote voting in the elections. The new features include “creative tools” like filters, stickers, Bitmoji, and lenses.
In addition to these filters, Team Snapchat will also send “Snap” messages to all its Indian users reminding them to check the dates for the election in their respective constituency along with links that can help users to check polling stattions in their area.
Indian users can use Snap map integration feature to check online voter roll. It will also have a “ready link” that can easily direct them to the location of the polling station.
The links will direct users to the online portal of Electoral Commission of India where they can check all the necessary details of the Lok Sabha elections. Snap has also added Snap Map integrations that are aimed to held voters during the elections.
Snap Inc, the company behind Snapchat, revealed that users can use the app along with all the new “lenses and filters to express themselves on issues around the election and share them with friends”.
The company has also teamed up with some media portals to offer content around the 2019 elections.
Polling is underway today in 91 constituencies spread across 18 states and two union territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections.
Voting for the 543 Lok Sabha seats is being held in seven phases: April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Counting will be done on May 23.
