We’re inching closer to the launch of Apple’s next generation iPhones, which is expected to take place just next month. Every new day brings a new rumor, report and leak on the iPhone 8, the iPhone 7s, and iPhone 7s Plus. The latest bit of information is on the storage capacity for the iPhones and a prediction of a 512GB variant for the iPhone 8.

According to a post on Weibo (via Mac Rumors), the anniversary edition iPhone 8, will be launched in three storage variants of 64GB, 256GB and the highest ever, 512GB. All three variants will come with 3GB of RAM. An image of SanDisk’s NAND flash 64GB was also shared alleging it to be for the iPhone 8. SanDisk and Toshiba are said to supply 64GB and 256GB memory modules, while Samsung and SK Hynix would take care of the 512GB modules. Of the lot, this is SanDisk’s first mention as a NAND supplier for Apple’s iPhone 8; the other three have been mentioned in the past.

Reports have suggest in the past that one variant of the iPhone 8 will be available in 64GB and 128GB, while another with 128GB and 256GB. However, this is the first sighting of a possible 512GB storage on the iPhone 8. Although, it was expected that Apple would increase the storage on the iPhone 8. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have the highest storage capacity so far with 256GB. Apple has been focusing on bigger storage units, and it started last year by not launching a 16GB storage of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

In terms of RAM, this new leak is in line with analyst Ming Chi Kuo’s predictions of 3GB of RAM on the iPhone 8. Kuo also mentioned that the iPhone 7s Plus  too will come with 3GB of RAM, while the smaller iPhone 7s would ship with 2GB of RAM. There have been contradicting reports on the launch of this year’s iPhones with regards to the OLED display and new Touch ID technology on the iPhone 8. But Kuo had recently said that Apple appears to be running a month ahead of the scheduled mass production making September launch a possibility.
