Commentary :
0.0 : It's time to bring the attention back to the longest format of the game as West Indies and Pakistan lock horns for the first of the two-match Test series at Kingston. Pakistan won both the T20Is and ODIs, will they be able to drag the momentum further? Remains to be seen. This series holds the importance in many ways but first and foremost, the two Pakistan veterans - Misbah-ul-Haq and Younus Khan will bid adieu to the international arena after this series. Emotional moment for the tourists this
West Indies on the other hand have plenty to ponder about. They were outclassed in the shortest format, gave fight in the ODIs but still ended up on the losing side. Jason Holder and his men would look to turn things this time around and learn to capture the key moments. This is the 50th Test between these two sides and also the 50th Test at this venue. Let's see how the historical Test pans out. Stay with us as the action isn't that far away...

Powell has showed resistance on a lively surface but hasn't got enough support. Join us in a while for the second session.

WI will hope the pair continue and a lot will be on Chase who shone with his maid

The leggie stays around the wicket, lands it around middle, Shane Dowrich leans ahead to drive it through covers but the ball turns sharply and sneaks through the gap between bat and pad to rattle the furniture. Yasir is all pumped up and why won't he be? So, all the hardwork from West Indies seems to have been gone in vain here as the two set batsmen are out of here. Can Yasir pick up a Hat-trick?

The fourth umpire comes running in with the light meter and hands it over to umpire Richard Kettleborough! He takes a reading and that doesn't please him. The players are off the field and that is it for the day - STUMPS ON DAY 1!
A sad end to the opening day of this Test then! Both teams had their share of upper hand. Pakistan started off in a stunning manner as they ripped through the West Indies top order. The hosts were reeling at 71/5 and they needed someone to step up. Roston Chase and Shane Dowrich joined forces to steady the ship and together they kept Pakistan at bay. Yasir Shah or should I say Wahab Riaz provided the much-needed breakthrough to put an end to a fruitful 118-run stand. Both the set batsmen departe
Skipper Jason Holder and Devendra Bishoo then took their chances and the counterattack took Pakistan by surprise. The duo has hung in there and that should provide relief to the Windies camp. Their stand is worth 55 off 68 balls and one would wonder how long can these two carry on. Pakistan would rue having let the game slip after doing all the hard work. The second new ball is just an over old and the visitors would be aiming to clean it up early tomorrow. Let's see how day 2 pans out. Join us
...Day 2, Session 1...
Hello and a warm welcome for day 2 of this Test match. West Indies after getting blown away managed to recover through their lower middle order. Pakistan will be frustrated to let the game slip away and now would look to bundle out the hosts quickly. The scenes at the Sabina Park aren't encouraging though. It's not raining at the moment but the early morning rains have given a serious beating to the outfield. We will have a delayed start. All we can say is stay with us as we will keep you posted
Pitch Report - Jeffrey Dujon says that the pitch isn't in a good shape at the north end. At the south end he says that there are a few wet spots near the back of a length area which is not looking great. Ends by saying it's all in the hands of groundstaff, the umpires and the nature.
UPDATE 1045 LOCAL - No real improvement at the moment and the umpires are scheduled to have another inspection in 15 minutes time i.e at 1100 local.
UPDATE 1120 LOCAL - The umpires are still not happy with the ground conditions and will have another inspection after the lunch break which will be taken at the scheduled time 1200 local. The wait continues...
UPDATE 1315 LOCAL - The news gets worse as it's raining heavily in Kingston. That's only drowning any hopes of a brisk resumption. Chances of any play happening today seems very bleak.
UPDATE 1340 LOCAL - There is some positive news as play is expected to start at 1410 local. It is still very gloomy out there though. Revised quota of 53 overs left in the day.

UPDATE 1545 LOCAL - The inevitable has happened. The umpires have decided to call off play for the day. THAT SHALL BE STUMPS ON DAY 2.
A very insipid day that was dominated by rain and wet outfield. Hardly an hour's play was possible today and WI added 34 runs to their overnight score for the loss of two wickets. Amir picked both the scalps and registered his first fifer since his international comeback while Holder got to his fifth Test fifty. These were the only things of note to happen today as weather played spoilsport. Forecast for the remaining days isn't great either.
West Indies have a fairly decent total on the board. The surface does have some help for the pacers and with the rains around, the surface should spice up a bit on the coming days as well. Weather permitting, this should be an evenly-contested Test match. Let's hope that the rain gods stay away. We shall start 30 minutes early tomorrow at 0930 local. Do join us for all the action. Till next time, it's goodbye from us.
.....DAY 3, SESSION 1.....
Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the third day's play. Yesterday was a damp squib with hardly 12 overs bowled as rain and damp outfield ruled the roost. Let's hope we have better ground conditions today. The last-wicket pair at the crease for WI and they will hope to add a few more to their tally. These are good bowling conditions though and WI won't mind being bowled out quickly. For starters, let's wait for the updates on the outfield.
UPDATE 0920 LOCAL - There was heavy rain yesterday late evening in Kingston and it went on till after midnight. The outfield did get a beating again and the groundsmen are at work. It's slightly overcast currently but there hasn't been any showers for a while. The umpires will have an inspection at 1000 local.
UPDATE 0920 LOCAL - Good news folks as we will have a start, although a bit delayed. Play will start at 1030 local. The umpires had a look at the soggy outfield and aren't too displeased with it. Some respite after the anti-climax yesterday.
The players and umpires are making their way out to the middle. Pakistan will be keen to mop off this final wicket quickly. Mohammad Amir to complete his over.

94.3 : M Amir to Holder, Full and outside off, leans forward and lifts it over the covers. It goes into the vacant spaces in the deep as the batsmen get a brace.
94.4 : M Amir to Holder, On a length around off, nips in a bit as Holder is struck on the pads while trying to the flick. The ball goes towards cover and the batsmen cross over for a leg bye.
94.5 : M Amir to Gabriel, Back of a length around middle, Gabriel fails to put bat on ball and is hit high on the pads.
94.6 : M Amir to Gabriel, OUT! KNOCKS HIM OVER! Career-best figures in Tests for Amir as he ends with a 6-fer. The fuller ball around off, tails in sharply as Gabriel looks go big but fails to connect and the middle stump is pegged back. WI HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 286.
Pakistan haven't wasted much time in wrapping up the final wicket and it's Amir who has once again done the trick. West Indies will be happy though with the recovery after having been 71/5 on day one. Kudos to Holder, Dowrich and Chase for their fifties that propped up the hosts with the WI skipper remaining unbeaten. Amir stood out for Pakistan with his six-wicket haul while debutant Abbas impressed too. Fairly competitive total considering the overhead conditions and lively pitch. New ball cru
