Commentary :
0.0 : Hello and welcome to game no. 14 in this year's Indian T20 League. It is a clash between the heavyweights of the tournament, Mumbai and Bangalore in Wankhede. The hosts are yet to get off the mark in the tournament. They have always been slow beginners but they would want to get back to winning ways starting from today. Both their bowling and batting has been performing inconsistently until now. Rohit Sharma would hope for both the departments to click here today.
Bangalore, on the other hand, have also not had a great start to the tournament. They have won 1 out of the three games they have played. They might make a few changes to their squad. We might see Brendon McCullum make way for another foreign player as he has failed to click. Whatever team they have, Virat Kohli would be eager here for a victory. However, it won't be an easy game against last year's champions and we can expect an exciting clash. Stay tuned for further updates.
Danny Morrison is taking an interview of Washington Sundar. He looks as calm as ever. On the restriction of being allowed to play only one Under-19 World Cup, he says that the greater positive is that he was able to restrict the senior side for his country. On the current T20 team, he praises Daniel Vettori and Virat Kohli for keeping things calm in the dressing room. Stresses that Bangalore is a very good team and only need to execute its plans. Is confident that the team will do better in the
Suryakumar Yadav is being interviewed by Harsha now. He says that he can bat anywhere in the order but is relishing the opportunity to bat up the order. On Evin Lewis in the line-up, Surya says that all he has to do is play around Lewis because most of the hitting is done by the West Indian. Adds further that his aim is to play for as long as possible. Admits that there is some tension in the camp after three straight losses and hopes that tonight is when fortunes change for Mumbai.
PITCH REPORT - Sunil Gavaskar doing the pitch report starts by saying there is a slight change in the pitch today. Informs there is a bit of extra covering of grass on the surface. He reckons the ball will come on nicely onto the bat. He feels there will be dew coming in later as well.
TOSS - Up goes the coin, Virat Kohli calls and it lands in his favor. Bangalore will field first.
Virat Kohli says it looks like a damp wicket. He adds further there is a bit of cloud cover and it might assist the new ball bowlers. He reckons they just got to correct a few things, come out and play their best cricket and hope they come out on the right side. Informs they have made three changes, Brendon McCullum, Pawan Negi and Kulwant Khejroliya make way for Corey Anderson, Sarfaraz Khan and Mohammed Siraj.
Rohit Sharma starts by saying it looks a similar wicket to the last two games. He feels the wicket should remain the same. Reckons the dew might come in later on but the guys have to adjust. Admits they are in a tough situation but their team has the character to bounce back. Informs there is one change as Mitchell McClenaghan comes in for Akila Dananjaya.
We are all set to get underway. The players and the umpires make their way out to the middle. The two openers, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma will try and make full use of the Powerplay. Umesh Yadav has the new ball in hand and he will start the proceedings for Bangalore. Here we go...
0.1 : U Yadav to S Yadav, OUT! TIMBER! Umesh Yadav strikes off the first ball. Excellent delivery first up. He comes running in and lands it on a length around off, it shapes back in a touch after pitching. Suryakumar Yadav goes for a drive but he leaves a gap between bat and pad and it goes through it and hits the off stump. Yadav is up and running in celebration and there is a pin drop silence at Wankhede. Brilliant start for Bangalore. Ishan Kishan is the next man in.
0.2 : U Yadav to I Kishan, OUT! Two-in-two for Umesh! What a delivery this is. How do you play those? Ishan Kishan surely does not have the answer. Full again from over the wicket on off, this one shapes in late, very late. Ishan too goes for the booming drive but he too leaves a gap between bat and pad. The ball sneaks through and rattles the off stump. Mumbai are in big trouble here and Bangalore could not have asked for a better start. Umesh Yadav is on a hat-trick.
Rohit Sharma walks out to the middle. He will be facing the hat-trick ball.
0.3 : U Yadav to R Sharma, No hat-trick! Not the best of deliveries this one. On the pads. Sharma too fails to put it away as he gets hit on the pads. The ball rolls towards square leg and the batsmen run a leg bye. Mumbai are underway.
0.4 : U Yadav to E Lewis, Fuller in length on middle, Lewis drives it back towards the bowler who makes a half stop. The ball goes towards mid on and the batsmen take a run.
0.5 : U Yadav to R Sharma, Fullish again on off, looking for the swing he got on the first two balls. There is no movement this time as Rohit drives it towards mid off for a run.
0.6 : U Yadav to E Lewis, The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot. End of an over which has produced two wickets in it. A captain cannot ask for anything more. Yadav was taken to the cleaners in the last game but he has come back with a BANG!
Chris Woakes will bowl from the other end.
1.1 : C Woakes to R Sharma, Woakes goes fuller this time. He too was looking for some swing but does not get any. Sharma drives it to mid on. Rohit is timing the ball well here.
1.2 : C Woakes to R Sharma, FOUR! Exquisite! Right off the middle. Pure class from Rohit Sharma to score the first boundary off this game. Full and on off, Sharma leans into it and times it through covers. Once the ball beats the infield, there is no stopping it.
1.3 : C Woakes to R Sharma, Fuller again on off, no swing for Woakes. Sharma eases it towards mid off for a quick run.
1.4 : C Woakes to E Lewis, Back of a length on off, Lewis keeps it out off the back foot.
1.5 : C Woakes to E Lewis, SIX! That is a big one! Short and on middle, Lewis rocks back, picks the length early and sends it sailing over the square leg fence. Not a good follow up over by Woakes here. He has been a little too full and this time a little too short.
1.6 : C Woakes to E Lewis, Goes back to bowling length on middle, Lewis gets it off the inner half towards short fine leg. Sharma wants a run and Lewis does not hear the call. He eventually goes for it and makes it easy. So the second over is a good one for Mumbai, 12 from it.
2.1 : U Yadav to E Lewis, Umesh is persisting with the fuller length. This time though he delivers a low full toss. Lewis tries to drive but it hits the toe end and goes to mid off.
2.2 : U Yadav to E Lewis, FOUR! Poor ball and put away! This one is short and on the body. Easy pickings for Lewis as he helps it on its way through short fine leg for a boundary. Runs are coming thick and fast now.
2.3 : U Yadav to E Lewis, This is also off the middle but straight to mid off.
2.4 : U Yadav to E Lewis, Fuller and on off, it is eased down to long off for a run. Good field change by Kohli or that would have been a certain boundary.
2.5 : U Yadav to R Sharma, Back of a length on off, Sharma pushes it towards covers.
2.6 : U Yadav to R Sharma, Length ball on off, Sharma guides it down to third man for a run. So the swing has now gone and it seems to be coming onto the bat really well.
Washington Sundar is on now.
3.1 : W Sundar to R Sharma, FOUR! Welcome Sundar! He fires it on off, the ball skids on and as I wrote it comes onto the bat nicely. Rohit goes back and places it into the gap through covers for a boundary.
3.2 : W Sundar to R Sharma, This was bowled on a similar length but on the stumps. Not a lot off width on offer and Sharma defends it.
3.3 : W Sundar to R Sharma, Fires it on off, Sharma taps it towards covers and gives the strike to Lewis.
3.4 : W Sundar to E Lewis, FOUR! Lewis not gets a hit me ball and he puts it away. Short and outside off, Evin rocks back and cuts it through point for a boundary. Sundar has got his line wrong here.
3.5 : W Sundar to E Lewis, FOUR WIDES! The pressure now is getting to him. Two boundaries and now five runs off this one. Down the leg side, Lewis goes for the sweep but misses. De Kock fails to collect it and it runs away to the fence. 14 from this over so far.
W Sundar to E Lewis, FOUR! Make that 18! Once again it is down the leg side. Lewis sweeps it very fine and there is no stopping that. Not a good start for Sundar.
Direct hit! They have taken it upstairs. Lewis is the man in question at the non-striker's end. By the reaction of the fielders, he seems to have made it.
3.6 : W Sundar to E Lewis, NOT OUT! He has made it, just! The crowd erupts seeing that. Washington bowls this one slower on middle, it turns away and takes the outside edge as it goes towards short third man. Rohit calls for a run and Lewis responds late. Siraj there is quick to the ball and scores a bull's eye at the non-striker's end. The players appeal and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and it shows Lewis has made it. The Mumbai camp will breathe a sigh of a relief as you don't
Mohammed Siraj comes into the attack.
4.1 : M Siraj to E Lewis, SIX! It has gone miles! Siraj runs in and serves it short around middle and leg, Lewis swivels inside the crease with the pull shot and sends it packing over square leg into the Sachin Tendulkar stand. Pressure straightway on the bowler.
4.2 : M Siraj to E Lewis, A good comeback delivery. On a fuller length around off, moving away a touch, Lewis gets squared up a shade as he keeps it out safely towards point. A bit of an outside edge there.
4.3 : M Siraj to E Lewis, Bang! That was stroked with great power by Evin. It's racing from his bat but he fails to put it in the gap at covers.
4.4 : M Siraj to E Lewis, Well bowled, Siraj! Spears it in full and on middle, good pace, Lewis does really well to dig it out at the last moment.
4.5 : M Siraj to E Lewis, Five wides! Siraj attempts a slower one but it has gone all wrong. Too wide outside off and given a wide. Again some uneven bounce and de Kock fails to stop it. Bonus runs for Mumbai and Kohli ain't looking pleased. 50 for Mumbai in quick time.
M Siraj to E Lewis, FOUR! Runs continue to flow from the West Indian batsman. Siraj bowls it too full and too wide outside off, Lewis squeezes it out and places it wide of short third man for a boundary.
4.6 : M Siraj to E Lewis, Knocks it down to mid on and rushes across for a risky single. A direct hit would have made things interestingly. 16 from the over!
Chris Woakes comes back into the attack.
5.1 : C Woakes to E Lewis, FOUR! Too easy this for Lewis! Not smart bowling by the bowler. He is providing width outside off with the third man up. All Lewis has to do is guide it through the gap between that fielder and point and he deoes exactly so and the ball races away. Early boundary, pressure on the bowler. Not a good start to the last over of the Powerplay.
5.2 : C Woakes to E Lewis, Lucky to get away with that! A full toss outside off, Lewis tries to drive it through the off side but misses. He will be disappointed of not putting that away.
5.3 : C Woakes to E Lewis, Back of a length on off, Lewis guides it to point.
5.4 : C Woakes to E Lewis, Once again on a length on off, Lewis guides it point again.
5.5 : C Woakes to E Lewis, Goes fuller this time on off, Lewis drives it to covers. So after a boundary off the first ball Woakes has bowled four dots. Can he finish it well though?
5.6 : C Woakes to E Lewis, Oh yes, he can. An excellent last over of the Powerplay. A slower ball outside off, Lewis lets it be. The umpire feels it is inside the tram line and does not call it a wide. End of an action packed first six overs. Mumbai are 60 for 2 after it.
Strategic break has been signaled! So after two wickets off the first two balls. Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis have done really well to counter attack and score runs freely. They are going at 10 per over and now after this brisk partnership, they will feel they are top at the moment.
6.1 : M Siraj to R Sharma, Back of a length on off, Rohit opens the face off his bat and guides it down to third man for an easy run. He moves onto 13.
6.2 : M Siraj to E Lewis, Shortish outside off, Lewis cuts it to sweeper cover for a run.
6.3 : M Siraj to R Sharma, He angles this one on off, from wide off the crease and bowls it on a length. Rohit is cramped for room as he chops it to the keeper.
6.4 : M Siraj to R Sharma, Another length ball on off, Sharma guides it down to third man and crosses over.
6.5 : M Siraj to E Lewis, Slower ball again on off, Lewis tries to cut but once again chops it back towards the bowler. A good comeback over this has been by Siraj. Just three off it till now, there is still a ball to go.
6.6 : M Siraj to E Lewis, Excellent fielding! Kohli leads from the front here. Fuller and on off, Lewis drives it towards covers. Kohli there dives to his left and makes a good stop. Stops a certain run. So just three from the over after the break. A much-needed tight one for Bangalore.
Washington Sundar is back into the attack.
7.1 : W Sundar to R Sharma, Floats this one up on middle, it turns back in. Sharma works it towards mid-wicket.
7.2 : W Sundar to R Sharma, SIX! Boom boom goes Sharma! He comes down the track, Sundar drags his length back a little. Sharma still goes ahead with the shot. He goes with the spin and tonks it over the mid-wicket fence.
7.3 : W Sundar to R Sharma, The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball. One run added to the total.
7.4 : W Sundar to E Lewis, Fires it on middle, Lewis drives it down to long on for a run.
7.5 : W Sundar to R Sharma, Tosses it up on off, it turns back in. Sharma punches it down to long off to give the strike over to Lewis.
7.6 : W Sundar to E Lewis, FOUR! A good way to end the over! Another expensive one by Sundar, 13 from it. Short and on middle, Lewis swivels inside the crease and pulls it through backward square leg for a boundary. He moves onto 43.
Yuzvendra Chahal is into the attack.
8.1 : Y Chahal to R Sharma, Loopy ball on off, Sharma drives it past the diving bowler and down to long on for a run.
8.2 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, A little short outside off, Lewis cuts it hard through point and bags two.
8.3 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, Slower through the air outside off, Lewis leaves it thinking it would be a wide but the umpire feels it is inside the line. A dot.
8.4 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, SIX! Take that, says Lewis. Brings up his fifty in style! His maiden one in this league. He goes down on one knee and slog sweeps it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie. He raises the bat to acknowledge the applause from the fans.
8.5 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, Flatter and outside off, Lewis goes to cut but does not connect.
8.6 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, Again quicker and outside off, Lewis once again slashes but misses. Chahal I think won't be tossing it up anymore.
Corey Anderson is on.
9.1 : C Anderson to R Sharma, The batsman has driven it through mid off.
9.2 : C Anderson to R Sharma, FOUR! No bowler is going to be spared here today! Sharma comes dancing down the track and also makes room. He gets it where he wants, outside off. Sharma slaps it over covers and the ball races away.
9.3 : C Anderson to R Sharma, FOUR! This one is full and on off, a half-volley in fact. Sharma will not miss out on this one as he drives it over covers and the ball races away.
9.4 : C Anderson to R Sharma, The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
9.5 : C Anderson to R Sharma, Direct hit needed! Rohit Sharma taps this ball towards short third man and sets off for a run. Mandeep Singh there picks the ball up and has a shy at the striker's end but misses. Replays show had he hit Lewis was a goner.
9.6 : C Anderson to E Lewis, Another risky run but no harm done! Mumbai are running at everything here, not needed at the moment. This one is guided towards short third man by Lewis and Rohit wants a run. He goes towards the striker's end and the fielder at that position has a shy but once again misses. Two close shaves but luckily for Mumbai there was no direct hit.
10.1 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, Fuller and quicker on off, Lewis tries to keep it out but gets beaten.
10.2 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, Fires it outside off, Lewis goes for the cut but once again does not connect. Good bowling, not giving Lewis anything in his zone.
10.3 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, SIX! Lewis this time converts the ball into his zone as he comes down the track. Gets to the pitch of it and hits it over long off for a huge one. 100-run stand up.
10.4 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, SIX! Back-to-back! Chahal bowls it on the stumps and pays the price for it. Lewis goes down on one knee and slog sweeps it over the square leg fence. He knows there is no turn, he is trusting the bounce and going ahead with the shot.
Danny Morrison catches up with Parthiv Patel near the boundary line. The former Mumbai player says that it's exciting to join Bangalore. Adds that it's always exciting to play along side AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. Says that he is waiting for his opportunity and it can come any time, so he is keeping himself ready for it. Feels that staying relaxed is very important.
10.5 : Y Chahal to E Lewis, Darts it on off, Lewis tries to cut but the ball takes the outside edge and goes towards short third man for a run.
10.6 : Y Chahal to R Sharma, The batsman dances down the track but decides to defend it. A dot to finish but a big over. 13 from it and Mumbai are cruising at the moment.
11.1 : C Anderson to E Lewis, Lewis walks across and goes for the heave but mistimes it to mid-wicket.
11.2 : C Anderson to E Lewis, OUT! In the air... taken! Corey Anderson strikes and he gives Bangalore the much-needed breakthrough. An excellent catch by de Kock, that was a real skier. A full ball on off, it was the slower one. Lewis tries to go downtown but only manages to hit it up in the air towards short fine leg. De Kock turns and runs towards it, judges it well and takes it nicely. Virat Kohli is pumped up as the 108-run stand has been broken and an entertaining innings by Lewis comes to a
Krunal Pandya is the next man in.
11.3 : C Anderson to R Sharma, Fuller on off, Sharma drives it towards point.
11.4 : C Anderson to R Sharma, Fuller outside off, Rohit tries to go over covers but gets an outside edge towards Sarfaraz at third man. The batsmen run one and the fielder fumbles and they get another. Kohli is not happy with that effort.
11.5 : C Anderson to R Sharma, FOUR! Look what that misfield does, it puts Rohit Sharma on strike and he makes the opposition pay. He gets a short ball on middle, Rohit rocks back and pulls it over square leg and the ball races away.
11.6 : C Anderson to R Sharma, On a length around off, Sharma guides it towards point. Pandya wanted a run but is sent back by his partner. Six runs and a wicket from this over, a good one by Corey.
Mohammed Siraj is back on.
12.1 : M Siraj to K Pandya, Starts off with a length ball on off, Pandya keeps it out.
12.2 : M Siraj to K Pandya, Almost chops it on! On a length and around off. Krunal tries to guide it down to third man but the ball is a little too close to play that shot. He gets a bottom edge which goes agonizingly close and past the off pole.
12.3 : M Siraj to K Pandya, Heaves this one across the line, does not get the connection he wanted but gets a brace through mid-wicket.
12.4 : M Siraj to K Pandya, Fuller in length on middle, Pandya drives it back to the bowler. Just two from this over so far. Turning out to be another good one.
12.5 : M Siraj to K Pandya, A bumper on middle, Pandya ducks under it and the umpire calls it a wide. Siraj is not happy with the call.
M Siraj to K Pandya, An appeal from the bowler but turned down! Another dot more importantly. Bowls it on leg stump. Krunal misses the flick to get hit on the pads. He needs to finish this over well here.
12.6 : M Siraj to K Pandya, He does so as only a single off the last ball. A slower one outside off, Pandya is deceived as he swings early. It goes off the inner half towards long on for a run.
Yuzvendra Chahal is back on.
13.1 : Y Chahal to K Pandya, Tries to muscle it over long on but no timing on it. Pandya has struggled till now. He gets a single.
13.2 : Y Chahal to R Sharma, Floats it outside off, Sharma slaps it towards sweeper cover for a run.
13.3 : Y Chahal to K Pandya, SIX! This should get him going! Chahal makes the mistake off tossing it up. He maybe wanted to tempt the batsman. Krunal does get tempted but he connects well and sends the ball over the long on fence.
13.4 : Y Chahal to K Pandya, In the air... and on the bounce! Pandya once again tries to go big. The timing is not there on the slog sweep and hits it on the bounce to deep mid-wicket for a run.
13.5 : Y Chahal to R Sharma, Sharma works it around the corner for a run and says Pandya it is you who has to go big.
13.6 : Y Chahal to K Pandya, Pandya tries to do exactly that. He tries to go over covers but once again he mishits it. It is up in the air for a while. Kohli from covers comes running in, dives but could not get to the ball. A good effort from the Bangalore skipper, a dot to finish.
Second strategic break signaled! Mumbai have lost Lewis but are in a good position at the moment. This is where they lost the plot in their last game and they would not want to repeat it. They would want to cash in from here. Something above 200 is what they will be looking for. Bangalore on the other hand will look to restrict them below that and if they are to do so, they will need wickets.
Umesh Yadav is back on.
14.1 : U Yadav to R Sharma, SIX! Out of here! TRADEMARK ROHIT SHARMA! A little short on middle, Sharma picks the length early and pulls it over the square leg fence for a biggie.
14.2 : U Yadav to R Sharma, FOUR! Yadav has not got it right on his comeback. This is short and outside off, asking to be hit. Sharma says thank you and cuts it over point to bring his fifty up. His 33rd in this league. The captain has finally come to the fore. 10 runs from the first two balls of this spell from Umesh. He got two wickets in his first one if you remember. Cricket is a great equalizer.
14.3 : U Yadav to R Sharma, Driven towards the mid on region.
14.4 : U Yadav to R Sharma, Fuller on middle, driven down to long on for a run.
14.5 : U Yadav to K Pandya, A good change in length! Umesh bangs it short and on middle. Pandya ducks under it.
14.6 : U Yadav to K Pandya, FOUR! Not convincing but Krunal will take it. On a length around middle. Pandya swings at it but it goes off the inner half through backward square leg for a boundary. 15 from this over, they have now surely decided to put their feet on the accelerator.
Corey Anderson is back on.
15.1 : C Anderson to R Sharma, FOUR! Ideal start to the over! 19 from the last 7 balls. A little short and width on offer. Sharma cuts it through point and the ball races away to the fence.
15.2 : C Anderson to R Sharma, A yorker on off, the delivery which should be bowled at this stage. Rohit Sharma can't do a lot with it as he jams it out towards the bowler. Krunal sets off for a run but is sent back. While he tries to turn back and make it to his crease. He collides with Anderson and has hurt his hand.
The physio has come out to check but he now seems fine to continue.
Another run out appeal at the non-striker's end. Has Krunal's dive saved him?
15.3 : C Anderson to R Sharma, OUT! No, it has not! Pandya is well short. Rohit comes down the track and mistimes it straight down the ground. They complete one and they go for the second. Nasser Hussain on air mentions it is not a good idea as Woakes is quick to the ball and fires a throw to the bowler. Anderson collects it well and takes the bails off. The players appeal, they do not look that confident though and the umpire goes upstairs. Replays show that even though Krunal has dived, he is s
Kieron Pollard is the next man in.
15.4 : C Anderson to R Sharma, FOUR! Poor ball and put away! Short and wide outside off, Sharma rocks back and cuts it hard through point. The ball races away to the fence. Once again this is poor by Corey, he is not bowling to his field.
15.5 : C Anderson to R Sharma, Driven through mid off by the batsman. One run added to the total.
15.6 : C Anderson to K Pollard, On a length around off. What does Pollard do? He lunges forward and defends it. Surprise? Naah! He does play like that on his first ball most of the times.
16.1 : U Yadav to R Sharma, SIX! Umesh struggled with bowling in the death at the last game and his struggle continues here. He offers a gift. A full toss on leg stump. Rohit Sharma helps it on its way. The timing is such that the ball goes all the way, over the fine leg fence.
16.2 : U Yadav to R Sharma, A good follow up delivery, a yorker on middle. Sharma drives it down to long on for a run.
16.3 : U Yadav to K Pollard, Goes fuller on off, Pollard the big man has not yet decided to go big. He tries to push this ball through covers but gets an outside edge down to third man for a run.
16.4 : U Yadav to R Sharma, Goes for the wide yorker. Sharma tries to pierce the gap between point and short third man but finds point. A dot which is precious at the moment.

17.3 : M Siraj to R Sharma, SIX! That has gone into orbit! What a hit, son! A slower ball outside off, Rohit Sharma picks it up early and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. It does not just clear the fence but goes into the top tier.
17.4 : M Siraj to R Sharma, Now goes for the paddle, tries to be cheeky but misses to get any proper connection. The ball goes towards short fine leg for a run.
17.5 : M Siraj to K Pollard, Good ball! A yorker, on middle. Pollard jams it out to the bowler.
17.6 : M Siraj to K Pollard, Another yorker and Pollard flicks it towards deep square leg to end the over with a run.
Chris Woakes is back on.
18.1 : C Woakes to K Pollard, WIDE! Full and outside off, Pollard lets it be and the umpire calls it a wide.
C Woakes to K Pollard, OUT! Woakes gets the dangerous Pollard! A big wicket at this time. A slower ball on off, Pollard tries to go downtown but does not connect well. It goes towards long on where AB de Villiers runs to his right and takes a nice catch. First wicket for Woakes. Kohli will be happy to see the back of Pollard as he could have easily made a difference of 10 runs.
Hardik Pandya is the next man in.
Has Pandya bagged a first baller? He has been given out caught behind but he reviews immediately.
18.2 : C Woakes to H Pandya, NOT OUT! Ohkay! Hard luck for the bowler. I will tell you why. Woakes bowls an absolute peach to Pandya first up. He lands it on a length around off, it shapes away after pitching. Pandya tries to keep it out but it seems to have taken the edge and gone into the mitts of the keeper. The players appeal and the umpire agrees. Pandya straightaway reviews and one would think it is not out as the batter did not waste any time in going for the referral. Replays roll in and
18.3 : C Woakes to H Pandya, SIX! This will hurt Bangalore! They could have had Pandya on the last ball and now he is has just tonked this for a biggie. Short and on middle, Pandya rocks back and pulls it with disdain. The timing is such that the ball sails over the fence.
18.4 : C Woakes to H Pandya, SIX! This is an extraordinary shot! This one is bowled short and outside off, Pandya flat bats it off the back foot and the ball has gone over the long off fence. Back-to-back biggies. What started to be a good over, is ending up to be an expensive one.
18.5 : C Woakes to H Pandya, This too has been slapped hard through covers but only for a run.
18.6 : C Woakes to R Sharma, Fuller and outside off, this has been driven square through the off side for a run. 15 and a wicket from it. Even though there is a wicket in it, it is a good one for Mumbai. One over and 8 runs needed for 200. Can they get to it?
Corey Anderson to bowl the last over.
19.1 : C Anderson to R Sharma, Wide! Starts on a wrong note. A low full toss, way wide outside off, Rohit makes a leave.
C Anderson to R Sharma, Play and a miss this time. Fuller in length around off, angling away, Rohit goes on one knee to sweep it around but fails to connect.
19.2 : C Anderson to R Sharma, FOUR! Goes straight and finds the boundary. A length ball in the line of the stumps, Rohit clears his front leg and muscles it down the ground for a boundary.
19.3 : C Anderson to R Sharma, SIX! High and handsome! 200 comes up for Mumbai and the crowd is going bonkers. He latches onto a length ball outside off and smokes it over extra cover for a boundary. Rohit moves to 90! Can he get a century?
19.4 : C Anderson to R Sharma, FOUR! Rohit is in the mood. Fetches a full toss from outside off and thwacks it over mid on for a boundary. The fielder in the deep tries his best but to no avail.
19.5 : C Anderson to R Sharma, OUT! Rohit holes out! But what a wonderful innings by the Mumbai skipper. He has announced his arrival to form and other teams will have to watch out for him now. Once again he's aiming for the straight boundary, fails to get enough power this time and a simple catch for Woakes at long on. The Wankhede stands to applaud for the Hitman!
Mitchell McClenaghan is the next man in.
19.6 : C Anderson to M McClenaghan, Two wides! Anderson spills it way wide outside off, Mitchell chases and misses. Pandya quickly calls his partner for a run. Great thinking!
C Anderson to H Pandya, FOUR! Immense power! Anderson angles across a full ball outside off, Hardik attacks it with all his might and bludgeons it down the ground. No chance for the fielders in the deep. 21 from the over and Mumbai end on a massive 213/6!
Chris Woakes who becomes the leading wicket-taker of the tournament (currently) gives a quick interview to Nasser Hussain. Says that he did go for runs but it's nice to pick a few wickets. Feels that it's a chaseable score at this venue. Adds that it's all about sticking to the process but admits that Mumbai got some world-class players. Hopes for a good start in the Powerplay and preserving wickets.
Another flamboyant batting display is what we have witnessed here in the Wankhede. If you would have ever asked Mumbai after the first two balls of the game that would they take anything above 200? They would have surely done it with open arms. A batting display led by their captain, who has finally come to the fore when his team needed him the most.
Bangalore after winning the toss and electing to bowl got off to a dream start as Umesh Yadav took two-in-two. But then came the Mumbai recovery, Evin Lewis and Rohit Sharma joined forces and started the counter-attack. They stitched a 108-run stand with Lewis scoring 65 off it. After losing him, the home side did not put their foot down and the kept going after the bowlers. This time though it was Rohit Sharma who took every bowler to the cleaners and perished 6 short of a well-deserved ton. Ha
What should I write about the Bangalore bowling. They were once again thrashed towards the end. A problem which they are facing since a long time. Umesh Yadav was exceptional at the start but was equally bad towards the end. Their spinners too were giving a pounding. They once again have to depend on their batters now and the visitors will hope they come to the fore today. They could not chase a similar total against Rajasthan in the last game. Can they do it here? Join us for the chase to find
