When Harpreet Singh and his friends decided to go diving in the Maldives little did they know what they would come across. Harpreet who has recently quit his job and runs a travel company called BEEP- Beautiful Experiences Extraordinary Places.
On April 28 2015, while the group was coming back from a diving experience in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean they were excited to spot a juvenile turtle. "When I noticed this turtle at a distance and we were all excited to jump in and swim with it but when we got close we realised something was not right. So the dive guide Amin and I jumped into the water and what we discovered, horrified us," Singh said.
Here is what happened next,
The turtle was injured and has his fin tangled up in a massive plastic bag. Singh added, "The poor thing was literally fighting for its life and we felt blessed to be have given the opportunity to do something about it."
Amin caught the turtle with his bare hands and cut off the bag sticking out of its fin while Singh filmed the entire rescue.
"We can’t just dump our waste in the oceans and endanger the lives of our fellow beings. If we destroy our home, there will nowhere else for us to go either," Singh feels.
