Every Bengali born and brought up in Kolkata would have identified just a wee bit with Ajay De's exhibition The Last Communist. The gallery was transformed with the flooring changed to black and red flags in places to go with the theme of his paintings. After every hour or so there was a deliberately created blackout for a minute or two with sounds of protest and  chaos to go with the Communist theme. Nawaz Modi Singhania turned up in a pastel dress and immersed herself in the paintings, while Prahlad Kakkar came in  a sort of wraparound that looked like a lungi ! Mayumi and Francois Pujolas, Ananya Banerjee, Bina Aziz and Soketu Parikh were some of the others who turned up.
