The book launch of To India With Love – a book compiled by three New Yorkers on the worldwide passion India commands – had Ratan Tata do the honours. Ratan spoke about distress bringing people together while Shobhaa De gave an emotional speech about the magic of optimism and hope. This was followed by a cocktail reception to which busy-as-a-bee Rashmi Uday Singh breezed in on her way to another party, but not before saying a big ‘hi’ to Ratan. Shobhaa wore black as did Farzana Contractor and the latter could not help but invite friends to her upcoming food show. Bandana Tewari joked that she wanted to ‘kidnap’ Waris Ahluwahlia, one of the authors of the book, for an evening about town while Lillete Dubey made a late entry. Others who attended were Ness Wadia, Sangita Jindal, Bose Krishnamachari, Tina Tahiliani and Leetu Shivdasani, who co-ordinated and put the evening together.
