1. Gujarat is perhaps the only state where an entire day is dedicated to kite flying in the form of Uttarayan

2. No one knows how kites came to India. But it is believed that it originated in China, went to Japan and from there came to India.

3. Kites find mention even in poems and miniature paintings dating as back as 13th till the 19th century
