Yummy bites to go with bytes @ Verve

Café De Verve was just a cyber café for six years. When regular visitors asked for a bite to go with the web pages, the café owner Abhishek Shah gladly processed the request.

From February last year, he began serving salad burgers, omelettes, momos. He sums up the café’s concept in one line: “The word verve means energy and that’s what this joint is about.”

Style and attitude are two words that are likely to cross your mind as soon as you enter this place.

The décor is ‘woody’. Table tops are made of coffee beans sandwiched between a layer of wood and a layer of glass. The menu is simple, yet stylish. However, the most interesting feature of the café is the sight of youngsters snacking while surfing the Internet.

“This place has been mostly designed by customers. The menu, food prices, the way the furniture has been placed… everything is based on customers’ ideas. With 100 bucks in your pocket, you can get a coffee, French fries and momos,” Shah says.

Momos sell the most here. But they are not the best deal here. The egg salad burger and the chicken salami omelette score high for taste. “Most women prefer the egg salad burger to the other snacks. It’s healthy and light,” says Shah.

Under the header ‘Drinks’ — no, don’t go too far, we’re talking coffee here — Café De Verve’s menu has some reasonably-priced lattes and coffees — cold and hot. If you want it chocolaty, order an iced mocha. If you’re looking for something simple, yet filling, go for an iced latte. Even hot coffees, priced between Rs25-35, are creamy and satiating.

Café De Verve is the place to be if you’re looking for an eatery where you can spend quality time with friends and, of course, surf the Inernet, undisturbed. It’s also a peaceful where you can enjoy a book or two while sipping something cold while munching on something hot.
