This ain't no 'Partner', 'Heyy Babyy' or 'Dhamaal' though it tries very hard to be a high octane comedy with the gag-a-minute formula. With no storyline of even the simplest credibility, it's just four guys making complete asses of themselves in what has to be the most brain dead film of this year. For sheer inanity it beats even last week's 'Aggar' hollow. How the mighty Priyadarshan who almost single-handedly revived the tradition of comedy with Hera Pheri (2000), has fallen.
Four deadbeat aimless young men Gautam (Kunal Khemu, decent), Sameer (Tusshar Kapoor, trying), Pankaj (Sharman Joshi, over the top) and Markand (Rajpal Yadav, hamming) one day decide that the only way to get on in life is to marry a rich girl. On cue Ritu Tripathi (Tanushree Dutta, over made up and awful actress) drops in to live in the neighbourhood with her grand parents (Om Puri and Farida Dadi).
They set out to pursue her with childish antics which involve a lot of slapstick. The trouble here is that all their ploys have been seen before in one film or the other and there is nothing remotely original about it.
There are also villains around and in the last few reels they and the boys all get together to slug it out for the whereabouts of a mysterious 'dhol' (thus the title).
While this should have added to the entertainment value of the film it having taken the attention away from the mindless pursuit of the girl, it does nothing of the sort. When a long and tedious 150 minutes have elapsed and the end titles roll the only felling is of relief.
