Mumbai: Men, how about grabbing your pals and jetting off to a ski slope, taking surfing lessons at a pristine beach or even indulging in fishing and cooking expeditions? Sounds wild? Now, here's the catch: No women allowed! 'Mancations' or 'men only vacations' is the new buzzword in social leisure.

From adventure sports to simply chilling out, 'mancations' bring about more than just guy bonding.

Says filmmaker Homi Adajania, "My wife packs me off every year and has absolutely no desire to come on these so called mancations!Every winter, we go snowboarding 20kms from the LoC in Kashmir.

The reason we stick to an all guys 'annual board meeting' is because we slum it out in dorm-styled rooms and do stupidly dangerous things that would stress me out if my wife had to go through that. I'm sure if the wives and girlfriends came with us, they'd probably be running tougher slopes and definitely look better than us!"
Actor Rahul Bose who goes on an annual mancation with his rugby pals recalls their last recce. "We went to Thailand -- Koh Samui and Pattaya, and it was totally cool.

Mornings, we'd play beach rugby and volleyball for three hours, followed by a swim and then a round of kiddima (racquet sport). After a nice lunch, we'd crash, then awaken, have tea, play some more and finally sit down together and watch the sunset. Nights were reserved for beers with the guys. It was such fun and my pals were quite happy without their significant others as I guess there was no obligation to be or do something...I'm looking forward to our next one in Hong Kong."

For businessman Riyhad Kundanmal, nothing beats a mancation in Alibaug. "Time with the boys, doing nothing, but yet everything...we go sailing, fishing, mountain biking and play pool, swim and have barbeques. A few weeks back we caught up at a friend's place racing cars as an impromptu weekend break," he reveals. "It's also healthy for the relationship to have that time apart, so we discuss even more when we are together."
