Recently after the infamous sex scandal, there have been news reports that shamed Tiger Woods has asked his estranged wife Elin Nordegren to join him on his yacht in private as they sail through the Caribbean. Having apparently suffered from sex addiction, Tiger seems to be trying hard to save his marriage.

Psychologist Seema Hingorrany, who has dealt with cases of porn and sex addicts, says that reconciliation is never easy and can be very difficult for most couples to accomplish. She
discusses some of the dos and don’ts of reconciling that people must keep in mind.

Dos
1 The definition of reconciliation is talking out and opening the chapter all over again with you spouse. Thus, it’s important for one of the partners to be highly tolerant of the other’s mistake and give him or her a second chance for the sake of the time they’ve spent together.

2A mental preparation of what you’ll say is a must, with the feeling that needs to be brought forward with the partner. Take the help of a therapist if it’s too much for you to decide on your own.

3 Make sure both the partners are in a healthy environment while reconciling. Privacy of the two is always better without any in-laws or relatives. A relative may only make things worse.

4 Chalk out future goals and plans. It’s important to know how both of you want to take the relationship forward in future.

Donts
1 Don’t bombard your partner with talks. It may actually be too much for him or her to handle and cause an emotional breakdown.

2 Don’t give in to social pressure but decide what’s good for your on your own.

3 If you think the relationship is not worth giving a second try, then trust your gut feel and do not go in for a compromise.
