Chhaya Momaya, life coach: It would definitely be Nita Ambani, and Mukesh too is the best host for that matter. Whenever they host parties, the kind of attention to detail they show is amazing. They keep personal choices in mind and go all out to be warm and welcoming. Nita always decides the menu — whether it’s for 5 or 500 guests and she also makes sure the decor is apt for the occasion. She also has some cultural programme like a bharatnatyam dance that promotes Indian culture.
Prahlad Kakkar, ad filmmaker:
I’d say it would be a tie between Vijay Mallya and Gautam Singhania. Mallya has two great annual parties — one for New Year’s at his home in Goa and one for his calendar launch in Mumbai. Gautam also throws a super annual bash in Powai. The food in both parties is outstanding and you have a great cross-section of people coming in.
Nisha Jamvwal, architect:
I think I do the best parties as I put so much thought into them. For my own birthday I did four tastings before fixing the menu. And people stayed until croissants and tea in the morning. I like to go down to the last detail and enjoy the whole process — it’s personal and beautiful.
Manish Malhotra, fashion designer:
It would be Parmeshwar Godrej for the ‘fab’ parties she does. I have had quiet dinners at ther house and enjoyed them. Apart from having the who’s who over — even Hollywood stars — nobody hosts parties quite like her.
Nawaz Singhania, fitness expert:
My husband Gautam’s of course! It has a wonderful crowd, great ambience, food and alcohol!
