Churchgoers need no longer worry about their Holy Book getting wet as a 'water-resistant' Bible has been launched for the 'first time' in the country.
Called 'Immerse Bible', the 261 page Bible, priced at Rs290, has its covers and each page wrapped in a thin plastic sheet.
The Bible has been printed in China and was launched this month in Kerala by OM Books, distributors for the unique Holy Book in the country.
About 11.5 cm wide and 16 cm long, the entire Bible is 1.5 cm thick, Kerala regional manager of OM Books Shaji Daniel told PTI.
The publishers of the Bible are Thomas Nelson Publishing House, Texas, US.
OM had earlier launched 'Purse Bible' and 'Flap Bible'. The 'Flap Bible' has to be read with a magnifying glass which is distributed along with the Bible. Launched six months ago, both the Bibles are quite popular.
'About 5000 copies are expected to be sold in the country,' he said adding 160 copies have been sold in Kerala, since its launch on November 9.
OM has about 12,000 varieties of Bible and Biblical books. The smallest bible, weighing 150 grams, is priced at Rs675. A magnifying glass is distributed along with the Bible.
OM is also the biggest publishing house in Asia for Biblical books. It has 30 branches in the country with the head office at Secundarabad.
