Mumbai: Amrita Rao adores any book that is a collection of short stories and "biographies of great men". She says that the latest biography that she has finished reading is called Rajmata Gayatri Devi, A Princess Remembered which was gifted to me by Sooraj Barjatiya's wife Vinita at a book store at the Jaipur airport.
"It was after she saw that I was so intrigued by the Maharani," admits Rao, adding, "the book has truly motivated me as it gave me a great insight into the psyche of a legend who despite having it all was just as down to earth. I browsed through the book first two years ago when I was on my Jaipur-Mumbai flight. I have read it thrice over and the last I read it was when I heard of the sad demise of the Maharani."
So, which is her favourite film? "Well, when it comes to my favourite genre of film, I love watching romantic-comedies. But when it comes to my favourite in film, I love watching Sound of Music. It was a film that my father introduced me to as a kid. It is a film that is full of expression and drama and is an all-time classic. I love this particular scene in the film when Julie Andrews is sitting beside the kids on their bed and singing them songs whilst it's thundering outside. Just when she arrives at a high pitch whilst singing, the father opens the door and she accidentally collides into him," she says.
"The first film I ever saw was Jungle Book when I was five years old and I remember watching it with my cousins. And I must admit that I was quite smitten by Mogli," she ends.
