Surat: A national Khadi Festival will be held in Surat from Saturday. The festival will house 225 stalls from all over the country and will also house an amusement park.
The month-long Khadi Utsav-09 has been organised by National Khadi and Cottage Industries Board at Honeypark road in Adajan. Various stalls will created in 70,000 sq ft area, which will house artisans and cottage industries from all over India. The festival aims to provide maximum benefit to workers involved with Khadi industry. Apart from apparels, various handicraft items and consumer durables will be sold during the festival. "This is for the first time that such a large scale event has been organised in Surat.
"Our aim is to link more people with Khadi and provide employment in rural areas," Manu Mehta, chairman of Khadi Utsav -09, said.
