Singer Raageshwari Loomba couldn’t agree more, “I feel that a peaceful person gets all the rewards he desires. When we react from our higher consciousness we can be really happy.”

Raageshwari believes in affecting her environment in a positive way with little touches — whether it is having a respectful conversation with the underprivileged, feeding the dogs in her building or even a service such as placing the footwear of those come to learn about spiritual matters. She also feels that it’s important for her to be happy first in order to make other people in her environment happy. “I’m not a llama, I have my down moments but I have found techniques to give myself inner satisfaction.” She also practices Tibetan yoga where she has learnt the importance of the correct way of breathing as a prerequisite to human happiness.

Jewellery designer Poonam Soni practises Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism, of which a fundamental concept is the oneness of life and its environment. “It is a totally positive philosophy that teaches an individual how to be in tune with the rhythm of the Universe. The philosophy imparts techniques like chanting and reading Buddhist philosophy to realize the higher consciousness within oneself.” Poonam’s practice has changed the way she thinks about people and consequently how she deals with them. “If my driver is ill and doesn’t report to work, I don’t abuse  him.”

Consequently when one takes an action one has to be considerate of the feelings and existence of others as well. I also strongly believe in the concept of karma. Therefore it’s important to live life with as little negativity as is possible,” she says.
